United Nations: 37,000 African immigrants arrived in Yemen during 2020 United Nations: 37,000 African immigrants arrived in Yemen during 2020 - Monday 18 January 2021 الساعة 07:50 am مشاركة Aden, NewsYemen: The International Organization for Migration of the United Nations announced, on Saturday, the arrival of more than 37,000 African migrants to Yemen during the past year.
The organization stated that the number of immigrants who arrived in Yemen last year reached 37,535, like the Ethiopian immigrants, the largest number by 93 percent, and the Somalis by 7 percent.
According to the organization, 94 percent of these immigrants confirmed that they were heading to Saudi Arabia, and 6 percent were their destination is Yemen.
During recent decades, Yemen represented a safe passage for immigrants from the Horn of Africa, where they traveled on the arduous journey across the Red Sea, with the aim of working there or crossing to Saudi Arabia.
