Thousands march in Socotra, demand implementation of Al-Riyadh agreement and disband of militias

Thousands march in Socotra, demand implementation of Al-Riyadh agreement and disband of militias الثلاثاء 11 أُغسطس 2020 08:37 م الصحوة نت - خاص Alsahwa Net- Thousands of people marched on Tuesday in Hadibo, capital city of Socotra archipelago and demanded prompt implementation of Al-Riydah agreement, return of the local authority, and disbanding of armed groups.

Participants of the march managed to proceed the march despite obstruction attempts by militants of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) who blocked the road and encircled the assembly points.

The participants raised placards demanding quick implementation of Al-Riyadh agreement.

Signed last November by the government and the STC, Al-Riyadh agreement is intended to end rebellion in Aden and other nearby governorates by the separatist STC.

Participants of the march affirmed their support to the government and their desire to access their rights to effective political participation.

They also uttered slogans that supports the Southern National Coalition to grab their rights towards representation in the power.

They condemned attempts of damaging the public peace in Socotra saying that Socotra is a symbol of peace and its people never accept landmines plantation.

They also demanded return of the government and the local authority.

They affirmed their support to the political leadership represented by the President Abd Rabo Mansour Hadi and the national military to combat rebellions and retrieve the state offices.

 They expressed their rejection to the use of violence and support to the use of dialog, coexistence and partnership to resolve all problems.
