Government expects USD one billion UN support in 2020

Government expects USD one billion UN support in 2020 الثلاثاء 10 ديسمبر 2019 09:08 م الصحوة نت - خاص Alsahwa Net-The government said on Monday that it hopes that the United Nations (UN) Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) will achieve the financial goal that was set by the General Assembly at USD one billion for Yemen’s 2020 humanitarian emergency needs.

Abdullah Al-Sa’adi, Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the UN voiced this on Monday during a fundraising by the CERF in New York city of the United States.

He called on members of the international community to continue supporting the CERF to reach its goal for meeting urgent humanitarian needs in Yemen.

  He appreciated the UN efforts towards assisting the Yemeni people to encounter the humanitarian crisis that was ensued by the Houthis’ armed coup.

Al-Sa’adi affirmed that the CERF’s support to Yemen, contributed at meeting acute emergency needs to two million people in 27 districts of top priority that were on a brink of famine danger.

Yemen experiences an increasing multifaceted humanitarian crisis that was exacerbated by the Houthis’ late 2014 rebellion.
